Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia) – via its corporate social responsibility arm, Allianz4Good – supported the Malaysia International Search and Rescue (MISAR) for its Junior Safety Workshop, held recently at its headquarters in Jalan Kampung Pandan, Kuala Lumpur.

The contribution has benefitted 201 children aged between seven to 14 years including 20 children of Allianz Malaysia’s employees.

Head of Allianz4Good, Ng Siew Gek said, “Allianz Malaysia supported the Safety Workshop with the aim to empower the younger generation to be safe and healthy and be more concerned about the environment.”

“As an insurer, we know that accidents can happen anytime and anywhere, especially to children, who are more vulnerable. Thus, parents need to be aware of ways to avoid mishaps by exposing them to training on basic safety measures.

“These trainings are crucial as we have also learnt that when children feel safe and in control, they will be empowered to speak up and less likely to fall prey to criminals,” she added.

The objective of this Junior Safety Workshop by MISAR is to provide basic knowledge on fire safety, road safety, as well as emergency procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first-aid application among others.

The modules of the programme included Escape Kidnapping, Escape A Smoke-Filled Room, Electric Safety, Emergency Call 999, Cross Road Safety as well as Earth Rangers Activities such as Plant A Pot, Stop A Trash and Safe Rain.

Founder of MISAR, Captain K. Balasupramaniam said, “It’s our responsibility to keep our community safe at all times. By nurturing the youth on the importance of safety today, we will reduce the burden of injuries in our country for the future. This is how we will be able to build a safer nation together.”

Allianz Malaysia has been partnering MISAR for a few impactful initiatives previously. Last year, the Company had collaborated with MISAR to provide Flood Survival Trainings for Malaysians, its Allianz We Care Community members, and employees, to be better prepared for floods.
