Rain or Shine - Are You Ready?

  1. 1. Park on Higher Ground
Choosing higher ground to park your car can really help, especially during rainy seasons. Flash floods can occur without warning, and you might not be able to move your car in time when they happen.

    2. Check Weather Updates Before Driving

If possible, delay your travel plans or choose the best route to avoid flooded areas when it’s the rainy season or there’s heavy rain. If you can’t delay your travel plans, use navigation apps like Waze or Google Maps that can show areas being flooded and avoid them.

    3. Avoid Driving Through Flooded Roads

Did you know that just 30cm of water can sweep away most vehicles? Wait for the floodwaters to subside before resuming your travels or call for help. Do not attempt to drive through flooded roads and risk your vehicle, and always prioritise your safety.

    4. Don’t Restart a Flooded Engine

If your car is caught in a flood, do not attempt to start it. Instead, call our hotline at 1800-22-5542 for towing assistance.

    5. Know Your Local Flood Zones

Avoid parking or staying in flood-prone areas whenever possible.

    6. Park in the Shade or Use Sunshades

This helps reduce cabin temperature, protects electronics from overheating, and prolongs the life of accessories in your car, including the dashboard and seat covers. If you’re driving an Electric Vehicle (EV), this helps prolong the life of your EV’s precious battery as well.

    7. Avoid Frequent Fast Charging of your EV in Hot Weather

Repeated high-speed charging in high temperatures can accelerate battery degradation. Instead, opt for AC charging overnight whenever possible.
  2. 8. Get Special Perils Coverage for Your Vehicle
Stay protected from costly damage caused by Malaysia’s unpredictable weather.

Want to Help Mother Nature? Here are Other Tips for Being an Eco-Driver

  1. 1. Consider Carpooling or Public Transport
Carpooling or using public transport helps reduce traffic, lower CO₂ emissions, and lessen your environmental impact. Yes! Driving less means you’re contributing to a better world!

  2. 2. Avoid Idling Your Engine
Idling wastes fuel and increases harmful emissions. Turn off your engine if you’re waiting for an extended period.

    3. Use Cruise Control on Long Journeys

Cruise control helps to maintain a consistent speed and improves fuel efficiency. As a bonus, it helps to keep your speed in check and avoid hefty speeding fines!

    4. Keep Your Tyres Properly Inflated

Under-inflated tyres reduce mileage and increase energy consumption, while over-inflated tyres can reduce traction and increase the risk of blowouts. Under- or over-inflation of your tyres also leads to faster wear and tear and the need for more frequent replacement of tyres. Follow your vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations on the correct tyre pressure.

    5. Choose to Repair Damaged Parts
  3. Repairing damaged parts or choosing used parts requires fewer resources and produces less waste compared to choosing new parts. They also come with a 2-year warranty for your peace of mind. In addition to being environmentally friendly, you get to save on betterment charges!

  4. For your windscreen, you can also choose to repair minor damage. If you’re in the Klang Valley, we even offer the Allianz Windscreen-on-the-Go service where windscreen repair can be done at your location of choice within three (3) hours.
  5. • One repair = coverage saved
The remaining coverage amount after repair costs can still be used during the policy period.
