  • Allianz Malaysia Berhad – via its corporate social responsibility arm, Allianz4Good – partnered with Malaysia International Search and Rescue (MISAR) for a flood relief mission at Pulau Tuba in Langkawi, Kedah in November.
  •
  • The recent floods caused a landslide in Pulau Tuba. As a result, the roads around the island were blocked by sliding boulders and fallen trees which posed a danger to the islanders. In addition, Pulau Tuba faces a poor water-channeling system which contributed to the recent flash floods.
  •
  • Allianz4Good and MISAR consulted both the Langkawi and Kedah Fire and Rescue Departments before mobilising relief efforts in the form of response equipment to the community emergency responders.
  • The Company contributed machinery including a rock hacking jack hammer, mass load pack power supply generator and reuse clean water generator pump among others.
  •
  • MISAR Chairman and safety activist Captain Balasupramaniam and his team also trained the locals in Pulau Tuba on how to execute relief actions to ensure that they can undertake repair works by themselves in case of future flood emergencies.
  •
  • Head of Allianz4Good, Ng Siew Gek said, “The islanders in Pulau Tuba are mostly working as fishermen and their livelihoods will be greatly affected by the floods.
  •
  • “We hope the machinery contribution and training we have provided will support prompt recovery post-flood, enabling a faster return to their economic activities and mitigating substantial financial impact,“ she said.
  • In 2019, Allianz Malaysia kicked off a project to establish a community centre in Pulau Tuba with the aim of improving the literacy levels and access to quality education amongst the local community.
  •
  • In 2022, the Company had collaborated with MISAR to provide Flood Survival Trainings for Malaysians, its Allianz We Care Community members, and employees, to be better prepared for floods.
