  • It was a Klang Valley invasion of Qualifying Round Six of the Allianz Junior Badminton Championship (AJBC) 2022 held last weekend at the NZ Badminton Arena in Port Dickson.

  • Due to the close proximity of both Kuala Lumpur and Selangor to neighboring Negeri Sembilan, many players from both states made their way down to Port Dickson to dominate most of the categories in Round Six of AJBC which saw 325 players take part.

  • Branson Hee of SMK Bandar Puchong Jaya B clinched a double in the Boys U-15 category, winning the Singles and also Doubles title with Razeeq Danial of SMK Taman Jasmin 2, Kajang. Not to be outdone, Teoh Sue Mei from SMJK Chong Hwa Gombak proved her mettle by winning both Girls U-15 Singles and Doubles bragging rights with school mate Wong Au Mei.

  • Supported by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) and the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM), the AJBC consist of seven Qualifying Rounds to be held between July and November 2022. The finalists from all seven Qualifying Rounds will then come together for the AJBC Grand Finals from 24 to 26 November.

  • The AJBC features four events – boy’s singles, boy’s doubles, girl’s singles, and girl’s doubles – in the Under-13 (13-year-olds and below) and Under-15 (14 to 15-year-olds) categories.

  • Allianz Malaysia Berhad Chief Executive Officer, Sean Wang said: “The talents here in Port Dickson impressed us. Competitions like this is all about putting your best foot forward and playing to your best abilities and that is exactly what they have shown us these past few days. Now that we are almost coming up to the Grand Finals, the level of competition is surely to heat up!”

  • The qualifying round in Port Dickson was made extra special with the addition of the Karnival Allianz4All 2022 that was held at the venue on 5 and 6 November. At the carnival, members of the public were able to participate in family activities with prizes worth up to RM10,000 up for grabs, enjoy food truck experience, and undergo free medical check-ups offered by Allianz Malaysia’s healthcare partners.
