- As floods risks continue pose a recurring threat to communities across Malaysia, Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia) is reinforcing its commitment to building community resilience.
- Through its Corporate Social Responsibility arm, the company has invested in flood preparedness efforts through its Flood Survival Programme (Programme) for the past years.
- Organised in collaboration with the Malaysia International Search and Rescue (MISAR), the seventh edition of the Programme was conducted across two sessions at MISAR Academy, Kuala Lumpur, bringing together 288 participants. Participants were equipped with practical skills and knowledge to respond safely and effectively during flood emergencies.
- The Programme combined classroom learning with hands-on training, covering topics such as flood survival and personal safety, rescue operations and the use of rescue equipment, medical emergencies and first aid response, as well as disaster preparedness and relief support. Participants also learned how to assist vulnerable groups, including children, older persons, persons with disabilities (PWDs) and pets, during emergency situations.
- Allianz Malaysia Chief Executive Officer, Sean Wang said, “For the past years, we have supported this Programme because the need for preparedness remains as relevant today as ever. Floods continue to affect communities across the country, and while insurance plays an important role in helping people recover financially, we believe protection starts before disaster strikes.”
- MISAR Founder, Captain K. Balasupramaniam said, “Our experience on the ground has shown that many flood-related incidents become more serious when people are unsure how to react. Programmes like this help participants understand basic safety principles, assess risks and make better decisions during emergencies. The more people are equipped with these skills, the better prepared communities will be when floods occur.”
- Through practical training and realistic simulations, the Flood Survival Programme equips participants with valuable experience and confidence that can help them respond more effectively during emergencies.
- Allianz Malaysia remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance community resilience and preparedness. Through strategic partnerships and practical training programmes, the company aims to help communities better protect themselves and those around them when emergencies occur.
