Kuala Lumpur, 14 May 2026

  • Three young talents – Nuha Eryna Doni, Danial Mukhriz Mohd Musa and Siti Nur Aminah Abdullah – shone at the second Qualifying Round of the Allianz Junior Badminton Championship (AJBC), each securing double victories in their respective singles and doubles events during the tournament held from 8 to 10 May 2026 in Putrajaya.
  •
  • Nuha, representing SK Bukit Kemuning 2, emerged as winner of the U-13 Girls’ Singles after beating Veronica Rom Gaha of SJKC Onpong.
  •
  • Nuha and Veronica then teamed up to take the U-13 Girls’ Doubles over the pair of Dashayni Chandrasegar from SMK (P) Methodist School and Vagesha Rajavikramen of SMK Kepong. It was a memorable outing for Dashayni and Vagesha despite placing second, given that it was their first outing as a pair in the AJBC.
  •
  • “Dashayni and I first began training at the Selangor state level around two years ago and we have formed a good partnership since then. We will need to improve our gameplay for the Grand Finals later this year, where we aim to finish as champions,” said Vagesha, who first participated in the 2024 edition of the AJBC in Taiping.
  •
  • “We have not won any medals yet as a pair, so achieving the runner-up position here has been a confidence boost for us,” added Dashayni, who made her AJBC debut last year in Klang where she finished in the U-13 Girls’ Singles semifinals and Doubles quarterfinals.
  •
  • Meanwhile, Danial, who hails from SMK Kota Kemuning, defeated Tyler Tan Bo Xun of SMK Taman Jasmin 2 to clinch the U-13 Boys’ Singles. Danial also won the U-13 Boys’ Doubles together with partner Dheenadhayalan Sandram of SMK Bdr Baru Sg Long, following a victory over Aizen Chong Wei Zhe from SMK Wangsa Melawati and Ku Muhammad Umar Aqil of SK Dato Keramat 2.
  •
  • Over on the U-15 courts, Siti Nur Aminah Abdullah of SMK Bukit Sentosa 2 also celebrated a double victory when she won the U-15 Girls’ Singles over Chu Jing Xuan from SMK Convent Klang, and partnered Jing Xuan to defeat Chai Jia En of SMK Seri Kembangan and Chan Hui En from SMJK Yuhua for the U-15 Girls’ Doubles title.
  •
  • Wong Wei Shen from Regent International School Klang almost made it a double celebration too when he won the U-15 Boys’ Singles after beating Abdul Rahman Hudhaify of Sekolah Agama Menengah Tinggi Tengku Ampuan Rahima, and made it to the U-15 Boys’ Doubles final.
  •
  • However, Wei Shen and partner Ian Yee Shern U from Tenby International School, SEP ultimately lost the U-15 Boys’ Doubles title to Mohammad Airulsyam Ambri from SMK Bandar Saujana Utama 2 and Soh Jiang Yee of SMJK Chung Hwa Klang.
  •
  • A total of 334 players took part in this Qualifying Round, the second of 10 rounds which will culminate in the year-end Grand Finals.
  •
  • The AJBC Grand Finals 2026 featuring U-13 and U-15 finalists from all the Qualifying Rounds, will take place in Kuala Lumpur from 2 to 7 December 2026. Each round will see 24 players qualifying for the finals. The Under-11 players will not advance to the AJBC Grand Finals.
