Muhaimi Aeizad Azhar, Amirul Zul Aiman Asmaly, and Devesshraja Sathimoorty will represent Malaysia at the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) in Munich, Germany from 17 to 22 August 2017.

The players had thoroughly impressed FC Bayern legend and Coach of International Program, Klaus Augenthaler and AJFC ambassador Giovane Elber during the recently concluded AJFC Asia 2017 at Canggu Club in Bali, Indonesia from 1 to 4 August 2017.

“It was a difficult selection as the standard was very high this year and each player had their own quality to offer. We looked at every little aspect of the players from skills to discipline, teamwork and temperament on and off the pitch over the days,” said Elber during the press conference to announce the winners of AJFC Asia 2017 at Canggu Club today.

The trio along with 15-year-old Muhammad Hafiz Jaafar and 16-year-olds Chia Ruo Han, Mohamad Mirzan Norji, Salehudin Othman, Dani Adli Shaiful Azua, Ritchie Svenson Fred Donny, Mohd Azlizan Mohd Azlan, Muhammad Alif Mohd Zaidi, Muhammad Shafiq Shazwan and Ajay Jamain were amongst 49 teenagers aged between 14 and 16 from China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Laos, Singapore and Thailand who attended AJFC Asia this year.

Only 15 players from these countries were chosen to represent Asia at AJFC in Munich.

“Once they put on the AJFC jersey, we did not see them as someone from Malaysia or Indonesia but as football players. There were definitely some very hard decisions we had to make because the Malaysian boys were all very good. We hope that they continue to live their dreams and play at the highest level one day,” added Elber.

During the camp, the young footballers participated in daily training sessions which culminated with a tournament on 4 August 2017 to determine the winners from each country. Part of AJFC Asia included get-together activities, My Finance Coach programme (financial literacy programme) and a cultural performance by the participants.

AJFC is an annual football event held globally since 2009 with AJFC Malaysia debuting in 2012 followed by AJFC Asia in 2013. The AJFC Malaysia League officially launched in Kuala Lumpur on 8 February 2017 and was open to teams of 18 players aged between 14 to 16 years old. This is the ninth year that the Allianz Junior Football Camp is being held globally. This year, Malaysia was part of the event for the sixth consecutive year and has thus far witnessed the talents of 5,769 young aspiring footballers.
