Merdeka Day on 31 August 1957 will always be remembered as the day Malaysia gained independence as a nation. Malaysia Day on 16 September 1963 saw the joining of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore to form Malaysia before Singapore broke away in 1965. But the significance of the date will always remain. It was, and forever will be the day Malaysia truly came together as one great nation.
And in commemorating Malaysia Day this year, Allianz Malaysia kicked off their three-week-long festivities honouring the true meaning of being Malaysian with a range of activities involving all employees nationwide.
First up was the use of the specially commissioned Malaysia Day-inspired email signature banner for all employees featuring all 14 states from 7 September.
The next was the changing of desktop wallpapers for all employees featuring finger art on
9 September. Employees volunteered to have their fingers drawn upon to showcase Malaysia’s melting pot of cultures and unique blend of people.
The Jalur Gemilang was honoured on 11 September with two activities. Employees came to work wearing of the flag colours (red, white, blue and yellow). The national flag was also created using Post-It notes on welcome area at Level 29 Menara Allianz Sentral. Employees were given Post-It notes to form the flag. A total of 230 Post-It notes were used to create the Jalur Gemilang measuring roughly 1mx2m.
And that’s not all. Upcoming activities include all employees to be dressed in traditional costume on the day after Malaysia Day, Finger Art contest (19 September), Face painting with own state flag (29 September) and in-house monthly giveaway featuring five Allianz custom-designed Malaysia Day notebooks (30 September).
So, immerse in the cultures, enjoy the cuisines and embrace the people that make Malaysia - Malaysia. Allianz wishes all Malaysians, a very Happy Malaysia Day!
