Allianz Malaysia Berhad signed off its Malaysia Day celebrations with a screening of a well-loved Malaysian movie and batik drawing today.
About 200 employees at the Head Office were treated to a screening of the hit Malaysian movie Ola Bola complete with kacang putih just like in the 60's! Besides that, employees also had the chance to try their hand at batik drawing and taking their creations home as a keepsake.
"Malaysia Day holds so much meaning for Allianz Malaysia. Every year we host a variety of events to value the significance of the date. In borrowing from Allahyarham Y.M Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj (ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid Halim Shah) - no matter colour, creed or religion we are all Malaysians. Malaysia was built on unity and moderation, so let us not lose that. Recognise it, embody it and remind yourself, not just this day, but every day of what it means to be truly Malaysia," said Zakri Khir, CEO of Allianz Malaysia Berhad.
The Company kick started its Malaysia Day celebration on 13 September 2016 with Zakri Khir (Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Malaysia Berhad and Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad), Joseph Gross (Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad), Charles Ong (Chief Financial Officer) of Allianz Malaysia Berhad) and Sean Wang (Chief Operations Officer) of Allianz Malaysia Berhad) competiting in a teh tarik competition.
The four men were tasked to make tea from scratch, to pull the tea from one cup to another, with no spillage and serve them in a cup. They were then judged on taste, technique and style by none other than Allianz Malaysia's resident tea lady and two employees. The competition which was not short of fun and laughter was won by Joseph.
Besides that, Allianz Malaysia also carried out various activities involcving all employees nationwide in the lead up to the occasion. These activities included: desktop wallpapers featuring the Rukun Negara (7 September); the launch of the 'Malaysia My Home' drawing contest for children of Allianz Malaysia employees (9 to 20 September); the use of Malaysia Day-inspired email signature banner for all employees featuring the Jalur Gemilang (from 12 September onwards) and a 'Come to Work in Traditional Attire' Day for all employees (15 September).
