Allianz Malaysia Berhad held its inaugural Allianz Pacer Run 2015 on 6 December 2015 at Dataran Putrajaya, Presint 3, Putrajaya.

The run which kicked off at 7am attracted more than 4,000 participants from all walks of life to compete in six running categories. The Pacer Run’s 12km route featured five categories - Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran, Women’s Veteran and the Corporate Challenge. There was also a 6km Fun Run which was open to all ages.

CEO of Allianz Malaysia Berhad, Zakri Khir said that Allianz was proud to present its own major standalone running event for the first time and something the Company could truly get behind as it aspires to encourage Malaysians to adopt a healthier lifestyle.

“Running is the most liberating experience one can enjoy and it is time that we indulge in it a little more. At Allianz, we are a firm believer in staying active and keeping up with a healthy lifestyle. That’s the whole idea behind the Allianz Pacer Run 2015 - so that we can inspire more people to start running, start getting active and taking better care of their well-being,” he said.

“Many wondered why we opted to present a 12km route instead of the usual 10km or 21km distances. We wanted to give runners out there a new distance, a different goal to work towards and also a chance to push themselves,” added Zakri.

Allianz kick started their Allianz Pacer Running Community in October 2013 which actively sought to get Malaysians interested in running and keeping fit.

“Through our initiative with the Allianz Pacer Running Community, we have been able to explore various avenues through fun runs, coaching clinics and other activities all year round. We’re really committed to getting Malaysians outdoors and engaging in sporting activities,” said Zakri.  

Runners for both the categories who completed the run were presented with a finisher’s medal. E-certificates will be sent out to the 12KM participants while participants for the Fun Run received their certificates at the finish line.

There were some wholesome and fun activities for the entire family like the Allianz Pedometer Challenge and Allianz Bungee Run Challenge in which everyone had a chance to win exciting prizes.   Allianz Malaysia’s Corporate Social Responsibility team, Allianz4Good had a booth highlighting their on-going Road Safety Advocacy Campaign alongside Allianz Pacer’s beneficial charity home, Selangor Cheshire Home.

Participants also enjoyed a special social media activity with the Allianz Insta Challenge where participants could take photos using quirky backdrops and post them on Instagram to win prizes.
