The Article

Allianz Malaysia employees rolled up their sleeves to serve around 500 homeless and the urban poor community at the Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI) Soup Kitchen at Medan Tuanku and Anjung Singgah.  During the session on 19 October, the volunteers served meals and beverages to the homeless and urban poor community around the area. “Most soup kitchens rely on volunteers to run the service and Allianz Malaysia is more than happy to engage our employees as volunteers to help serve the community. This is our fifth volunteer session this year and to-date we have had almost 380 employees participate in the sessions. It goes without saying, this initiative has been a rewarding way for us at Allianz Malaysia to reach out to the underserved community,” said Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good, Allianz Malaysia Berhad. PERTIWI is an organisation that is dedicated towards addressing the welfare and needs of marginalised groups in Malaysia. The mobile soup kitchen project which began in 2010 provides free meals, basic medical aid and other forms of assistance to the homeless and urban poor community in various locations around Kuala Lumpur.
