The Article

Twenty-five Allianz Malaysia employees rolled up their sleeves to serve around 500 homeless and hardcore poor at the Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI) Soup Kitchen in Medan Tuanku and Kota Raya area yesterday. During the session, the volunteers served nutritious meals and beverages sponsored by Allianz Malaysia to the homeless and urban poor community around both area. “Most soup kitchens rely on volunteers to run the service and Allianz Malaysia is more than happy to engage our employees as volunteers to help serve the community. This was the last two of six planned sessions that we hope to carry out this. So far, Allianz have had almost 200 volunteers participate in the sessions and it has been a great way for us to reach out to the underserved community,” said Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good, Allianz Malaysia. PERTIWI is an organisation that is dedicated towards addressing the welfare and needs of marginalised groups in Malaysia. The mobile soup kitchen project which began in 2010 provides free meals and other forms of assistance to the homeless and hardcore poor people in various locations around Kuala Lumpur.
