The Article

In the spirit of Ramadhan, Allianz Malaysia and its employees came together to bring Hari Raya cheer to underprivileged communities.

A total of sixty three Allianz Malaysia volunteers served around 700 homeless and urban poor per session at the Pertubuhan Tindakan Wanita Islam (PERTIWI) Soup Kitchen along Medan Tuanku (7 and 21 June) and Kota Raya on 21 June 2017.

The volunteers also delivered Hari Raya goodies and basic necessities such as rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil, condiments and diapers donated by employees to Lembaga Pelawat Rumah Ehsan in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Rawang (PDK Rawang), Rawang, Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Sg. Choh (PDK Sg Choh), Serendah, Selangor Cheshire Home and Dignity for Children Foundation from 19 to 22 June.

“Aidilfitri is a celebration when happiness is shared and bonds are renewed. It was a humbling experience to see our employees generously donate goodies and necessities and  volunteer their time for such a good cause in doing something meaningful for the people in need,” said Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good, Allianz Malaysia.

Collectively, the homes that were visited cater to Persons with Disabilities, the hardcore poor, old folks as well as refugees.

“We hope that our initiatives are able to bring some joy and festive cheer to underprivileged communities during Hari Raya and hopefully make their celebrations even happier,” added Siew Gek.

As part of the initiative, Allianz Malaysia also distributed Hari Raya goodies to all students at SK Tebing Tinggi and SK Sokor in Tanah Merah, Kelantan and underprivileged families in Gua Musang (Kelantan), Pasir Mas (Kelantan), Teluk Intan (Perak), Bangi (Selangor). Some of these families have been supported by Allianz Malaysia since they were displaced due to heavy flooding in the East Coast in 2014.

Eight Allianz Malaysia branches also donated Hari Raya goodies contributed by the employees to underprivileged communities in their respective locations.  Among the branches which supported the initiative were Kajang, Kepong, Kota Bharu, Kuala Terengganu, Kuantan, Miri, and Sandakan respectively.
