The Article

In the spirit of the holy month of Ramadhan and the joyous Eid celebration that follows, Allianz Malaysia and its employees came together to bring Hari Raya cheer to the underprivileged communities.

As part of the initiative, Allianz Malaysia distributed Hari Raya goodies to 205 students at SK Tebing Tinggi and 161 students at SK Sokor in Tanah Merah (Kelantan), 87 underprivileged families in Gua Musang (Kelantan), 13 underprivileged families in Pasir Mas (Kelantan), 50 underprivileged students of SMK Dato’ Seri Maharajalela and 30 families in Teluk Intan (Perak) and 20 families in Bangi (Selangor). Students from the three schools also received a well-stocked pencil case and colour pencil sets along with some confectionary goodies. Allianz Malaysia has supported some of these families since they were displaced due to heavy flooding in the East Coast in 2014.

Allianz Malaysia also had identified and addressed the specific needs of 1,461 individuals prior to giving out donations from Allianz Malaysia and its employees. Among the items provided were Hari Raya goodies and basic necessities such as rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil, condiments, wheat flour, rice vermicelli, canned sardines and diapers to Selangor Cheshire Home, Kampung Orang Asli Air Kuning Shah Alam, Lembaga Pelawat Rumah Ehsan Kuala Kubu Bharu, Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Selesa Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary Kuala Lumpur, United Learning Centre, Dignity for Children Foundation, Shelter Home for Children, Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association Kuala Lumpur and Selangor,  Kasih Pertiwi, Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Rawang (PDK Rawang), Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Sg. Choh (PDK Sg Choh), Pusat Jagaan An Najjah Malaysia and Society of the Interpreters of the Deaf  during the month of Ramadhan and Syawal.

“We are inspired by the generosity of our employees who continue to volunteer their time as well as donate goodies and necessities towards those in need during the company’s annual Hari Raya gift-giving initiative,” said Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good, Allianz Malaysia Berhad.

Collectively, the homes that were identified cater to persons with disabilities, the hardcore poor, old folks as well as refugees.

“We hope that our contributions will ease the burden and provide joy to underprivileged communities during Hari Raya.” added Siew Gek.
