In conjunction with the Festival of Lights, Allianz Malaysia conducted its road safety advocacy campaign at the Company’s head office at Menara Allianz Sentral along Jalan Tun Sambanthan on 23 October, in collaboration with Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya (JKJR).

While wishing travellers a safe journey back to their hometown, volunteers from the Company handed out windbreakers and Visibility Enhancing Material (VEM) to motorcyclists as well as first aid kits, safety hammers, and shoulder pads to motorists. Similar campaigns were also conducted in Kluang (10 October) and Teluk Intan (21 October).

Head of Allianz4Good of Allianz Malaysia Berhad, Ng Siew Gek said that it is always a haste when travelling during the festive season and a lot of motorists do not carry out the necessary safety checks before heading for the road.

“Most Malaysians would take advantage of long weekends and public holidays to travel, what more when it’s a festive season where many would travel back to their hometowns to celebrate with their families. Road safety advocacy is especially important during this period of time so that everyone can reach their destination safely.” said Siew Gek.

“Visibility on the road is important for motorcyclists; since 2011 we have distributed VEMs and windbreakers to ensure that riders stay safe on the road. Besides that, our safety hammer; a multi-tool that functions as a torchlight, beacon light, and seatbelt cutter can come in handy in the event of a vehicle breakdown or in an accident,” added Siew Gek.

In the event of an accident, Allianz Motor Comprehensive customers are reminded to call the 24 – hour complimentary Allianz Road Rangers (1800-22-5542) for assistance. The Allianz Road Rangers service features six touch points including a 24-Hour Dedicated Call Center; Allianz Road Rangers: Bike brigade; Allianz Road Rangers Tow trucks; Transportation services; Allianz Motor ODX Claims; and Vehicle Delivery.

Allianz Malaysia has been advocating road safety nationwide since 2011 through initiatives such as the in-class and interactive road safety education programmes at schools as well as the road safety advocacy campaigns at accident prone areas. These programmes are conducted with the involvement of Allianz Malaysia employee volunteers, JKJR officials, Polis DiRaja Malaysia (Traffic), Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalanraya (JPJ) and Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and town council representatives from the respective states.
