The Article

Allianz Malaysia embarked on a three-day relief effort from 19 December 2017 to deliver 2.5 tonnes of food aid to 100 Temiar Orang Asli families in Gua Musang, Kelantan.

With six four-wheel-drives and five employee volunteers, Allianz Malaysia were able to reach out to families from Kg. Penad, Kg. Tembagak, Kg. Berchap, Kg. Pinchong, Kg. Kajang, Kg. Kacheng, Kg. Gob, Kg. Brog and Kg. Gawin whose access to livelihood were cut off due to inaccessible roads around the area following persistent rain and flooding in Kelantan.

“After we got the news that the Temiar Orang Asli community in Gua Musang was totally cut off from food supply, we quickly pooled our resources together and set off on our relief mission. The journey was long and arduous, but affected villagers came together over two days to help clear the roads so we could have easier access to the villages. We hope that the food items distributed will alleviate some of their burden,” said Ng Siew Gek, the Head of Allianz4Good of Allianz Malaysia Berhad.

Each family received the following items: five packs of rice noodles; five cans of sardines; two bottles of oil; two packets of sugar, flour and dried anchovies; one bag of rice; one packet of salt, coffee and tea.

Allianz Malaysia has been carrying out disaster-related efforts involving the Orang Asli community for the past few years. Last year, Allianz Malaysia contributed over 100 pieces of Allianz-branded tents to villages in the Gua Musang area to help those who had to leave their homes for higher ground with no amenities for shelter.

In 2015, Allianz Malaysia also organised a similar initiative in delivering food items to the villages in the Gua Musang area. That same year, the Company also donated six Honda EX5 motorcycles to five villages in Gua Musang.
