The Article

Allianz Malaysia Berhad funded the installation of a 7 kilowatt Grid Tied Solar System by Science of Life Studies (SOLS) Energy for the Selangor and Federal Territory Association for the Mentally Handicapped (SAMH).

SAMH is a non-profit organisation which provides education, training, and employment for 300 intellectually challenged children and young adults under its care. The installed solar-powered system, which was officially unveiled recently, will provide economic relief and encourage better environmental stewardship.

“As we work towards a sustainable future, we need to embrace relentless optimism in seeking opportunities for change. Non-profit organisations such as SAMH work so selflessly and tirelessly to care for the underserved. Working with SOLS Energy, we are here to support their work and provide a sustainable solution to ease their burden. Renewable energy has become increasingly accessible and economical. The installation of the solar panels will be highly beneficial to SAMH to help them save on utility expenses and improve operation costs on a long term basis. This also represents a small but important step forward in realising a low carbon economy in Malaysia” said Zakri Khir, Chief Executive Officer of Allianz Malaysia Berhad.

As part of Allianz Malaysia’s commitment to promote social inclusion, SOLS Energy was selected and engaged for the solar panel installation at SAMH. SOLS Energy is a social enterprise which provides opportunities to youths from underprivileged and indigenous backgrounds from SOLS Academy of Innovation to become SEDA (Sustainable Environment Development Authority) certified technicians.

Apart from the installation of the solar-powered system, Allianz Malaysia has been collaborating with SAMH through various other initiatives. The Company collaborated with SAMH to feature student drawings on Allianz Malaysia's customer merchandises.
