The Article

Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad (“Allianz Life”) launched two beneficial and affordable Hospitalisation and Surgical riders today; aiming to provide comprehensive protection for customers in case of an illness. The riders, known as MediSafe and MediSafe Xtra, also come with two additional sub-riders; MediSafe+ and MediSafe Xtra+, to help boost the medical protection for customers.

“As much as illnesses are on the rise, medical costs are also escalating with many contributing factors such as the increase in professional fees, mounting cost of medication as well as usage of more advanced technology that aids in diagnosing and treating patients amongst others. In addition, being hospitalised alone can be an expensive matter. More often than not, one may not be able to afford or may exhaust their lifetime savings to treat illnesses. This is where the right insurance protection comes in place,” said Rangam Bir, CEO of Allianz Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad.

Allianz Life has been promoting Protection for years now, realising the need amongst customers. And it is based on the growing demands, that these riders are developed.

Medisafe provides protection for customers in the event of hospitalisation. It is available for those between 15 days old to 70 years old, with an extension of coverage up to 91 years old. Available in seven plans to suit the customer’s needs, it offers different levels of benefits, providing comprehensive coverage for medical needs ranging from reimbursement for pre and post hospitalisation treatments to home nursing care and ambulance fees. Hospital admission to Allianz’s wide network of panel hospitals is also hassle free as a Medical Card is provided. Other important benefits include out-patient treatment for dengue and fee reimbursement for alternative treatment post-hospitalisation such as chiropractic, chiropody, homeopathy, osteopathy or acupuncture which are usually not part of a Hospitalisation and Surgical insurance coverage.

Besides being affordable, Medisafe Xtra provides benefits under Medisafe and even more by increasing the lifetime limit to three times the original amount. Additionally, for those who seek treatment in Singapore, Medisafe Xtra enables one to reimburse claims made in Singapore without subjecting the claims to reasonable and customary charges of Malaysia. This enables customers to seek treatment in Singapore with greater security and peace of mind.

The two optional sub-riders; MediSafe+ and MediSafe Xtra+ provide an added benefit by waving the conditional co-payment under the plan. This means, if a customer’s medical costs exceed the yearly threshold of claims per-year, he/she usually needs to contribute to either 10 percent or 20 percent of the charges, according to the plan the customer purchases. However, with MediSafe+ and MediSafe Xtra+, this is not required.

“Our objective is to provide comprehensive protection plans for as many people according to affordability and we believe these riders can aid in providing a solution to their medical needs and results for customers,” concluded Rangam.
