The 2015 edition of the Allianz Junior Football Camp (“AJFC”) is now entering its next phase as six teams from Johor are set to compete in the National Finals on 13 June at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor.

“This year, we introduced a league format for AJFC. It has been very competitive with participating teams being very committed to play their best in all the matches. We have also seen many young and talented football players taking part. We believe that the league has given all our young footballers the opportunity to play competitively in a team environment,” said Chin Tze How, Group Chief Market Management Officer of Allianz Malaysia Berhad.

The league kicked off on 11 April 2015 at EduCity, Johor, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor and Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang. The total number of teams that were competing at these three locations is 56; with 20 teams in Johor, 20 teams in Penang and 16 teams in Selangor. Held over six  weeks until 23 May 2015, these footballers who are representing teams from the surrounding areas have been competing to achieve one goal; to be among the top six teams to qualify from the Johor leg of the league to the National Finals which will be held in at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang on 13 June 2015.

Allianz Malaysia decided to organise a league based on feedback that there was a lack of competition at the 14 -16 years old youth level.  The format and structure for the AJFC Malaysia were designed to create a highly competitive environment where skills, teamwork, speed, fitness and ball sense were amplified.

At the National Finals, the qualifying teams from Johor will join six teams from the Penang league and four teams from the Selangor league to compete to be crowned as the winner of the inaugural AJFC League. Individual players will also be vying to showcase their skills as the top eleven players will be selected to train with FC Bayern Munich. Three outstanding players will join  the Munich Camp in Germany from 13 – 18 August 2015 and  eight players will head to  the Asian Camp in Bali, Indonesia from 28  – 31July 2015.

“AJFC is a unique platform where talented footballers are brought together to inspire and develop their talent through an exciting football adventure. We are happy to provide this once-in-a-lifetime experience to these talented teenagers,” concluded Chin.

In August 2012, when AJFC was first introduced in Malaysia, two teenagers from Malaysia joined other selected teenagers from 21 different countries and four continents. Over the years, the number of teenagers has increased significantly and due to the overwhelming response received, the Asian Camp was introduced in 2013. Last year, Allianz Malaysia sent three teenagers to Munich, Germany, while one lucky Malaysian teenager was selected to go to Munich as the wildcard winner from the Asian Camp in Bali, Indonesia.
