Top 13 players that qualify for AJFC Asia Camp in Bali, Indonesia revealed

The Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) signed off on a spectacular note with the crowning of the AJFC Malaysia League champions during the National Finals at the Stadium Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi on 4 June 2016.

The National Finals also culminated in the announcement of the best 13 players from the competition who will travel to Bali, Indonesia for the AJFC Asia Camp on 19-21 July 2016. At the Asia Camp, the best three Malaysian players will earn their chance to train under record 26-time German Champions FC Bayern Munich in Munich, Germany.

This year’s edition of the AJFC saw 63 teams in four regions compete over a 6-week long season to vie for the Regional title which saw KB Armada Belia Pandan (Central), As Daruga FC (North), Kuantan Soccerkids A (East Coast) and Harimau Mega FC (South) winning the title of their respective regions.

The top-18 players from each region then formed a regional team that competed for bragging rights at the National Finals. Following the National Finals, the best 13 players were then selected to move onto the next level, and qualify for AJFC Asia Camp in Bali, Indonesia which moves them one step closer to a chance at representing Malaysia at AJFC in Munich, Germany on 25-30 August 2016.

“I am excited for the 13 young boys who will travel to Bali, Indonesia. Just like the previous years, the boys stand to gain valuable experiences under the watchful eyes of the FC Bayern Munich official youth coaches at the camp. Their aim should be to perform well and impress the selectors to earn their chance to be part of AJFC Munich,” said Zakri Khir CEO of Allianz Malaysia Berhad.

“The Allianz Junior Football Camp 2016 has been a rousing success. This year, we did things a little bit differently. We introduced the competitive 11-a-side format and a fourth region – East Coast – both which added another dimension and elevated the quality of the competition. AJFC is a football competition, but we don’t stop short at just doing the bare necessities. This year, we also incorporated media trainings, classes such as My Finance Coach which teaches you sound financial planning and a Road Safety Awareness session. We want to provide the boys with a holistic environment that includes useful life skills in addition to what they learnt on the football field,” added Zakri.

The Allianz Junior Football Camp was officially launched in Kuala Lumpur on 16 February 2016. Teams of 18 players aged between 14 to 16 years old registered on Allianz Malaysia’s Facebook page. This is the eighth year that the Allianz Junior Football Camp is being held and Malaysia is part of this for the fifth consecutive year. In five editions, AJFC Malaysia has witnessed the talents of 4,185 young aspiring footballers.
