Just 12 months after opening a new branch in Langkawi, Allianz General Insurance Company (Malaysia) Berhad (Allianz General) is already servicing 3,000 customers in the locality.

Allianz General Branch Manager for Alor Setar Cheah Lye Chong said 90 percent of the customers are motor policyholders and the branch has received positive feedback from customers who were happy to have direct access to their insurer for advise and assistance related to their policies. 

"Our branch is strategically located and we have two employees who are able to see to the needs of customers here. Like many og our other general insurance branches, customers here can renew their road tax and purchase travel insurance amongst others. It can save a lot of time for our customers and most importantly provide convenience for them and our valued agents," added Cheah. 

In terms of revenue, the branch displayed an encouraging set of results to start off with. The branch recorded RM2.6mil in GWP (Gross Written Premiums) in the first six months of 2016 with an underwriting profit of RM64,887 and Combined Ratio of 96.1 percent. 

"Customers are the coure of our business and we are always on the lookout for ways to improve the way we do business and we strive to stay relevant to customers by being their trusted partnet through thick and thin. From the resposne we have got here, it looks like opening the Langkawi branch was a step in the right direction," concluded cheah.

Allianz began operations in Malaysia in 2002 and today, Allianz Malaysia has 38 branches all over Malaysia. The Langkawi branch provides general insurance services to customers.
