The Article

Just like heaven. That's how S.Devesshraja described his recent experience at Allianz Junior Football Camp in Munich, Germany.

During the camp, the15-year-old and his compatriots Amirul Zul Aiman Asmaly and Muhaimin Aeizad Azhar underwent daily training sessions in which they were put through drills which emphasised various techniques from ball control to types of passing and shooting accuracy.

“It is not everyday that one can say: “I trained with FC Bayern Munich coaches” and to have them teach you new techniques and skills to help you become a well-rounded player. It's absolutely heaven for a young player like me,” said Devesshraja recalling the training session at FC Bayern’s training ground at Säbener Straße.

During the camp, the players also enjoyed a class with FC Bayern’s sports psychologist Christian Luthardt, watched FC Bayern Munich beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 in the opening Bundesliga match at the Allianz Arena on 18 August and had a meet and greet session with Robert Lewandowski, Renato Sanches, Kingsley Coman and Bayern’s new signing Sebastian Rudy.

The SMK Bukit Tinggi student hopes that his stint here in Germany will have a lasting impact on his blossoming career.

“Being a left winger, I was happy to pick up some new passing techniques. Now, I just need to keep practicing and use all that skills I have learnt to make sure the next time I am on the pitch, my coaches and opponents will see an improved Devesshraja,” he added.

AJFC in Munich was held from 17 to 22 August 2017 and featured 54 young footballers aged 14 to 16 years old from 24 countries including Argentina, France, Egypt, Indonesia and Mexico.

AJFC is an annual football event held globally  since 2009 with AJFC Malaysia debuting in 2012 followed by AJFC Asia in 2014.
